Comments about deBeer deBeer Apex Women's Lacrosse Head with Trakker Pro Pocket:
I recently purchased this stick after playing a season with the deBeer Myssy. Wow, this stick has such a deeper pocket! The head has very open side walls, and somewhat narrow throat and is a medium weight. I noticed right away that I had better ball control due to the deeper pocket. This stick is off-set.
Basically, off-set means the pocket and a lot of the head sits below the shaft when held horizontally. This means that when the stick is held upright to cradle, the ball can sit deeper in the pocket and still be legal. The head is angled so that you have to pick up ground balls "properly" in order to get them. (by properly, I mean putting your knuckles down and scooping through the ball). This could potentially frustrate girls who are used to picking up balls with their stick near-vertical.
I had my head strung with the newer Trigger pocket from deBeer. The pocket looks a lot like a traditional pocket, but is entirely synthetic. This pocket conforms to the ball well and holds it much better than the Trakker pocket. (I have yet to try the Pro-Trakker from deBeer) This pocket doesn't have shooting strings, but you could always put those in. The description of the pocket says that it has 5 runners, but the two on each side are very thin and barely noticeable. It basically has three runners.
Although I would recommend this head, If you are happy with your current head shape and stiffness but want better ball control, I would recommend trying a different pocket before getting a new head. I wouldn't recommend the Trakker pocket, because it will not conform to the ball very well.
I should also note that this stick head is made to fit the Traix shaft.(This shaft has a 3-sided shape) I made my octagonal shaft fit by duck taping the top so the head wouldn't rattle.
